When the difference changes

Brasília Time and British Time do not change their clocks on the same dates, so the gap between them is not the same all year. Most converters show only today’s figure. These are the periods ahead:

  1. Now – March 27, 2027British Time is 3 hours ahead
  2. March 27, 2027 – October 30, 2027British Time is 4 hours ahead
  3. October 30, 2027 – onwardsBritish Time is 3 hours ahead

Periods shorter than a day are not listed. Each zone changes at its own local time, so on a date when both move there are a few hours when the gap is briefly something else.

Brasília Time

No clock changes

Brasília Time stays on BRT all year, so its offset from UTC never moves.

Clocks go forward one hour — 1:00 am becomes 2:00 am local time, and the zone is on BST after that.

Scheduling between the two

Working hours overlap from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm BRT, which is 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm GMT. Anything inside that window falls in the normal working day at both ends.

A note on BST: it can also mean Bangladesh Standard Time (UTC+6). This page means British Summer Time.

Brasília Time (BRT) is used in Rio de Janeiro and Brasília. Brazil ended daylight saving in 2019.

British Time (GMT) is used in the whole United Kingdom. In winter the UK is on GMT; from late March to late October it is on BST, an hour ahead.
